About Sport Licences

Due to an impending increase in policy costs, the AMA Club's can no longer cover the cost of members personal accident insurance as an automatic inclusion in the cost of Membership.

From the 6th September 2022, any AMA Driver or AMA Rider Member wanting to be covered with personal accident insurance during an AMA sanctioned educational or recreational driving or riding activity, have the option to take out such cover with the AMA in the form of a Sport Licence.

From the 6th September 2022, any AMA Driver or AMA Rider Member wanting to participate in AMA sanctioned competitive sport events, it is mandatory that a Sport Licence be taken out with the AMA in addition to your AMA Driver or AMA Rider membership.

Membership applies public liability insurance to the individual, whereas a Licence applies personal accident insurance to the individual. An individual can NOT purchase a licence without already holding a current AMA Driver or AMA Rider membership!

There are 3 x licence options to choose from, which include a) $5k death and $25k disablement; b) $25k death and $25k disablement; or c) $50k death and $50k disablement.

Please note: The AMA's personal accident insurance does not provide a weekly accident benefit to cover any loss of income you might experience as a result of an accident or incident whilst participating in an AMA event.

As an AMA Driver or AMA Rider member, $20 million Public liability insurance is applied to you regardless of your age, which provides legal liability in the event of a third party being injured or property being damaged which occurs as a result of you, in an AMA sanctioned event.

Participating in any AMA sanctioned event, requires agreeance to the Participation Terms and Conditions for AMA Events. The AMA's Personal Accident (PA) insurance does NOT provide private health gap cover, nor a weekly benefit to cover any loss of income you might experience as a result of an accident or incident whilst participating in an AMA sanctioned event.

The use of motor vehicles/ vessels can be dangerous and may involve injury or death. You participate at your own risk knowing full well you could be seriously injured or worse. It is not the responsibility of the AMA, nor organisers to check if you have adequate PA insurance cover.

Members are advised to NOT rely upon the AMA's accident insurance as the sole means of injury insurance cover. All AMA Driver and AMA Rider Members should consider taking out an appropriate level of accident and ambulance cover to cover any losses or expenses incurred as a result of participating in an AMA event.

To obtain a quote for more appropriate PA cover please complete the PA Proposal Form and forward to the AMA insurance broker at insurance@h2is.com.au. Motorcyclists please note, it is not unusual to be quoted $4,000 to $5,000 and upwards for appropriate yearly PA cover.
